KRMOLD team most commonly uses three high-quality mold steels in plastic injection mold manufacturing: 3Cr2Mo (P20), NAK80, and 4Cr5MoSiV1 (2344). These materials are suitable for a variety of plastic injection molds.
●NAK80 is a high-quality mold steel with excellent wear resistance and high strength. Produced by Japan Special Steel Corporation, it is a premium pre-hardened mold steel particularly suitable for plastic injection mold manufacturing. NAK80 can reach a hardness of 40-43 HRC, demonstrating exceptional hardness. This material is not only wear-resistant but also exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, allowing it to withstand prolonged use and frequent plastic injection mold openings and closings, significantly extending the life of plastic injection molds.
●3Cr2Mo(P20 steel) is renowned for its excellent machinability and heat treatment properties. It is widely used in the manufacture of various medium-load molds and parts, particularly plastic injection molds. Primarily used in the production of medium-sized and large plastic injection molds, P20 is also commonly used in the manufacture of mechanical parts and templates due to its relatively low cost and good machinability. Its hardness typically ranges from 28-32 HRC and can be increased to 40-42 HRC with proper heat treatment, making it ideal for plastic injection molds.
●4Cr5MoSiV1(2344) is the most widely used high-quality hot work die steel, particularly suited for high-temperature environments. It not only exhibits excellent toughness and high-temperature fatigue resistance, but also withstands temperature fluctuations, making it suitable for long-term operation in high-temperature environments. This material also offers excellent cutting and polishing properties. Electric furnace smelting and electroslag remelting ensure the steel's purity and toughness, making it ideal for high-performance plastic injection molds.
KRMOLD engineers will precisely select the appropriate material for plastic injection mold manufacturing based on the specific characteristics of your desired product. If you have special requirements or questions about plastic injection mold design, please feel free to contact KRMOLD!
